Problems in Public Transport of Dhaka City Dhaka is one of the biggest and overpopulated cities in the world. Overcrowd is seen in most of the places. The people are to travel many places in the city for various purposes. Most of the people rely on public transport to travel in the city. Public transport is overcrowded also. Bus is the main public transport in Dhaka city. Most of the passengers are to reach their destination timely. So, they try to get into the buses at any cost. But the number of buses is low compared to the number of passengers. There is the demand-supply gape. Problems begin from here. The passengers are to compete with each other to get into the buses. Old people and women are to suffer a lot. Moreover, the passengers who get the opportunity to get into the buses face many other types of problems. This study explores that transport services in Dhaka city are congested, insecured and unreliable. The current transportation environment in Dhaka city is not passenger friendly at all. Government’s initiative, passenger friendly attitude of bus owners and staffs and passengers’ attachment to morality can solve most of the problems.

THE SOCIAL WORK AT THE CROSS-ROADS. HOW CAN THE MEDIA BE A HELPING HAND? Societies are drifting towards conditions of inequality, poverty and exploitation because of the group to which they belong. In Albania, the risks of the deepening split between the groups and the increasing need for social assistance is now clearer than ever. The actors involved in social work, in their efforts to affirm the need and the professional identity of social work, encounter some rather big challenges. These efforts are supported to a very limited extent by external actors and face difficulties in reaching their target group. The need for social work policies and action form a chain of messages which goes through a communication channel. In this channel, on the way from sender to receiver, the message itself seems to lose power and importance. Why? Among many answers, one seems to prevail: The Media negligence. Media representation of social work appears to be the weakest link in the communication chain from policy makers to those who benefit from the social work system. And it requires stronger attention and research on how to make media an ally of social work support, rather than an obstacle for the profession, which is also the focus of this paper.

Dubbing in Slovakia: A Heuristic Overview of the Process This paper deals with dubbing and its specifics in Slovakia. The categorization of countries according to their preference in audiovisual translation is re-considered and re-designed around the current data regarding audiovisual translation in Europe. The focus of the article then shifts to dubbing in Slovakia and to some extent Czech Republic, where there is a strong preference for dubbing over subtitling in television production. A heuristic basis for the process of dubbing production based on personal experience and observations of the author is introduced and some issues that arise during this process are addressed. The current situation and changes in comparison to the past in the (Czecho-)Slovak dubbing are depicted and analyzed. The paper offers a brief outlook on dubbing from a rather empirical point of view.

Reflections on a Defective Source Text In this article the author discusses translation of defective source legal texts and offers solution proposals. The study deals with an authentic legal text which is to be translated into German. It proceeds from an analysis and classification of errors in the selected text and makes an effort to generalise the translation strategy used in translation of a defective text based on a comparison with other texts, while it relies on the translation methods offered by the translation theory. The study deals with legal translation in particular, therefore a specific solution is needed. The article has been developed under the APVV-0226-12 TranSius – From Conventions to Norms of Translations in the Legal Discourse project. It presents results of our own research, which is an integral part of the above mentioned project. On one hand, the presented results reflect the translation theory and on the other hand, they reflect the conventions in legal translation. The aim of the article is to propose a way of implementing the recommended results as a standard approach in translation of legal texts.
Размышления о дефектах исходного текста В статье представлены размышления о дефектах исходного юридического текста и предложения для перевода дефектных текстов. Основой является аутентичный юридический текст, который предназначен для перевода на немецкий язык, а также анализ и классификация ошибок данного текста. На основе сравнений с другими текстами автором статьи обобщаются способы перевода дефектного текста. Высказания основаны на методах и способах перевода предлагаемых теорией перевода, причем в случае перевода юридических текстов необходимым кажется особенность решений этой проблемы. Статья написана в рамках проекта „APVV-0226-12 TranSius – От конвенций к нормам перевода в юридическом дискурсе“ – и предлагает результаты собственных исследований, которые являются сразу частичными результатами проекта. Предлагаемые результаты учитывают не только теорию перевода a и конвенции в переводе юридических текстов и целью автора является образовать из них норму перевода юридических текстов.

The Suggestion of Some Comparative European Group Corporate Governance Standards After Financial Crisis, Corporate Scandals and Manipulation In past few years, corporate scandals and bankruptcy in US and Europe and other parts of the world show some certain evidence on weak corporate governance, weak internal control system and weak audit. Though there are a few researches which have been done in the field of international corporate governance standards, we believe that this field with more rooms to explore. Therefore, this paper chooses a different analytical approach and among its aims is to give some systematic opinions. First, it classifies European Group representative corporate governance (CG) standards into two (2) groups: EASD and ECODA CG principles covered in group 1 and, group 2, including EFAMA Code and Corporate Practices from EBRD, so-called relative good CG group, while it uses ACCA and CFA principles as reference. Second, it , through analysis, shows differences between above set of standards which are and have been used as reference principles for many relevant organizations. Third, it establishes a selected comparative set of standards for European group representative corporate governance system in accordance to international standards. Last but not least, this paper covers some ideas and policy suggestions.

Хотя есть несколько исследований, которые были проведены в области международных стандартов корпоративного управления, мы считаем, что это поле с более комнатные, чтобы исследовать. Таким образом, эта статья выбирает другое аналитический подход и среди его целей, чтобы дать некоторые систематические мнения. Во-первых, это классифицирует Европейская группа представитель корпоративного управления (КУ) стандартов в двух (2) групп: ЕАДЦБ и ECODA CG принципы, охваченных в группе 1 и, группа 2, в том числе EFAMA кодекс и практики корпоративного от ЕБРР, так называемый относительный хорошая группа CG , в то время как он использует АССА и CFA принципы в качестве ссылки. Во-вторых, это, с помощью анализа, показывает различия между выше набор стандартов, которые и были использованы в качестве опорных принципов многих соответствующих организаций. В-третьих, он устанавливает выбранный сравнительный набор стандартов для европейского представительства группы системы корпоративного управления в соответствии с международными стандартами. Последнее, но не менее, в этой статье рассматриваются некоторые идеи и предложения политики.

Opposition of Culture-Oriented Strategies in Literary Translation The article deals with two polar approaches to the literary translation – keeping the values of the source language culture or resisting to them. The article pays special attention to the analytical theory of translation attracting a good deal of criticism of translation theorists and experts. Emily Dickinson was surely acquainted with sacredness of life in the presence of death. Death, the ultimate experience, is for Dickinson the supreme touchstone. Death is personified in many guises in her poems, Dickinson‘s imagery and effective use of the basic elements of poetry has produced a poem with several different meanings. Her conception of death and how she portrays it in ―Because‖ exposes the reader‘s mind to a variety of ideas about death. Writer’s Stances in Legal Discourse and Linguistic Tools of Their Verbalization The article deals with the linguistic tools used to verbalize the writer’s stances in legal discourse. The author argues that the writer as a discourse category is prototypically organized. The article determines central and peripheral features of the category . The linguistic units possessing central features are considered to be prototypical markers, while those ones lacking central features are considered atypical. Among central and peripheral linguistic tools used to verbalize the writer’s discourse stances, the author distinguishes first-person singular and plural pronouns in subjective and objective cases, first-person singular and plural possessive pronouns, proper names, role descriptors, indefinite personal, impersonal and subjectless passive constructions. These linguistic tools are used to represent the writer in legal discourse both explicitly and implicitly varying utterances from personal to impersonal.
Ипостаси субъекта в юридическом дискурсе и лингвистические средства их вербализации В статье рассматриваются языковые средства вербализации субъекта юридического дискурса. Автор утверждает, что субъект как дискурсивная категория имеет прототипическую структуру. В статье выявляются центральные и периферийные черты данной дискурсивной категории. Языковые единицы, обладающие центральными характеристиками отнесены к прототипическим маркерам субъекта, остальные единицы – к атипическим. Среди центральных и периферических маркеров, использующихся для вербализации дискурсивных ипостасей субъекта, были выделены местоимения первого лица единственного и множественного числа в субъектном и объектном падежах, имена собственные, притяжательные местоимения первого лица, институционально-ролевые дескрипторы, неопределенно-личные, безличные и бессубъектные пассивные конструкции. Данные лингвистические средства используются для эксплицитного или имплицитного представления субъекта в юридическом дискурсе, варьируя высказывания от личных до безличных.

Opposition of Culture-Oriented Strategies in Literary Translation The article deals with two polar approaches to the literary translation – keeping the values of the source language culture or resisting to them. The article pays special attention to the analytical theory of translation attracting a good deal of criticism of translation theorists and experts. The article emphasizes that translations should feature the balance of polar strategies to be considered adequate.

Pragmatics of Personal Pronouns in Academic Discourse of Russian Authors The paper deals with the pragmatic effect of first-person pronouns in academic discourse. The paper argues that scholars use personal pronouns pursuing different communicative purposes. Empirical analysis of eight academic papers written in English and Russian has shown that the authors use personal pronouns to create specific pragmatic effects. The frequency of personal pronouns has shown the degree of explicit author presence in academic discourse.
Прагматика местоимений первого лица в научном дискурсе В статье рассматривается прагматический эффект личных местоимений первого лица в научном дискурсе на материале восьми статье, написанных на русском и английском языках. В статье утверждается, что исследователи используют местоимения с определенными коммуникативными целями. Эмпирический анализ статей показал, что авторы с помощью личных местоимений оказывают определенное прагматическое воздействие на читателя.

Institutional vs. Personal in Legal Discourse The article deals with the characteristics of legal discourse and the linguistic status of its subject based on the texts of various legal genres. It aims at discouraging firm views on legal discourse as a purely institutional type of communication. The article suggests the term of personalized legal discourse, analyzes the characteristics typical of this form of communication. The topicality of the research is determined by the need to rethink the traditional views on legal discourse taking into account the modern achievements of Linguistics and Discourse Theory.

Michel Foucault: Structures of Truth and Power The concept of regime of truth clearly refers to the well-known circularity Foucault establishes between power and knowledge: we should speak of a ‘regime’ of truth because truth is produced, sustained, valorized and regulated by a series of mechanisms, techniques and procedures that are ‘political’ if we understand this term the way Foucault does: politics has to do not only with institutions, but with the complex and constitutive field of power relations within which we ordinarily live, and at the same time truth itself reinforces and induces effects of power. A regime of truth is thus the strategic field within which truth is produced and becomes a tactical element in the functioning of a certain number of power relations. The idea that truth gives us no choice, that truth necessarily forces us to accept it and build up our conduct in accordance to it, is an extremely dangerous ethico-political trap that Foucault can help us to unmask and overcome. The present paper discusses the various dimensions of truth and power as narrated by Foucault.

Factors affecting online shopping behavior of consumers The aim of this research is to find out what factors affect consumers in the context of electronic commerce, also to see the relationship between e-satisfaction and e-loyalty. As Internet has become a channel were online transactions have been done, and this created need for companies to understand how consumers perceive online buying. First thing done in this study was integrating relevant literature, and then testing which variables are affecting consumers’ decisions to buy online. Seven hypotheses were formulated regarding to consumers previous experiences with e-commerce. Data gathering was carried out by the survey which was sent online to 200 randomly selected citizens, from which 104 responded. Through the survey, the results of this study pointed out the relation between satisfaction with online service and consumers’ intention to buy in the future which generates customer loyalty. So, the main point of the study was achieved successfully.

Influence of Product Packaging on Purchase Decisions The aim of this research is to investigate the role of packaging on consumer buying behavior, to find out the relationship between package of product and its selling. How big is the importance of package in marketing communications, especially in the point of sale and how much does it influence consumer's purchase decision. The consumer buying behavior is dependent on the packaging and on its features. Packaging elements like color, background image, material, font style, design of wrapper, are taken as predictors. Data for this study were collected through the questionnaire as a method of qualitative research. 300 questionnaires were obtained in giving the final result of this research. Predicted outcome of research is that package performs an important role in purchase decisions.

Irish Language as a Part of Cultural Identity of the Irish Language can be perceived as a crucial part of identity. Language enables to pass on experience which is vital for future generations. Language and culture are mutually interconnected. The principal aim of the article is analysis of the importance of Irish language in the context of cultural identity of the Irish. Specifically, we deal with the topical issues concerning language and identity referring to Crystal´s theory of language death. Last but not least we also focus on the renaissance of Irish language in the Republic of Ireland dealing with selected official documents and strategies aimed at cultivation and preservation of the Irish language in the Republic of Ireland.

European Identity Formation in the Context of New Social Movements The article deals with formation of European Identity which can be described in terms of being one of the expressions of active European citizenship. European Identity can be enhanced by social movements which play the role of connectors of people via social spectrum and react actively to changes and current issues while representing norms, ideals and values of today. Similarly, as it is with the case of social movements from the past, they can also be a stimulus for historical changes initiation. They lay basis for the so called universal citizenship, whereas the term identity can be found in the centre of their interest. Thus, citizenship has become a dominant form of social identity. It is not only about summary of individual´s rules and responsibilities but it is also focused to a great extent on civic culture. Our main aim is to have a closer look at European identity considering it as a key factor of European integration.

Общественные движения играют важную роль для развития европейской идентичности, потому что они соединяют людей через социальные спектра. Как представители настоящих станцартов и идеалов, они тоже реагируют на современные вопросы и изменения. Общественные движения-это также стимулы начала исторических перемен. Они являются источниками, так называемого, универсального гражданства. Гражданство поэтому стало доминирующей формой общественной идентичности. Это не только иравила и ответственнось, но прежде всето сосредоточение на грaжданскую культуру. Нашей целью-это приближить европейскую идентичность, которая ключевым фактором для европейской интеграции.
